Northampton: Street fair is set for Saturday
Northampton Street Fair will take place 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Sept. 9 in the uptown area of Main Street.
Live music, displays and plenty of food and refreshments are planned.
Tours of the Roxy Theater will be given 11 a.m. 4:30 p.m.

The Street Fair is presented by the Northampton Area Chamber of Commerce.

Northampton Mayor Thomas D. Reenock has proclaimed Sept. 9 as “Customer Appreciation and Grand Reopening Day for Karen’s Kutz Beauty Salon,” in honor of the five-year anniversary of the 2006 Center St. business.
The event will include food, live music, massage therapy, a photo booth and raffles.
According to Reenock, owner Karen Colony “finds joy in helping other and is a big supporter of the community, the schools and The Angel 34 Foundation. All proceeds from massage therapy and raffles will be donated to The Angel 34 Foundation on Customer Appreciation Day.”

Reminder: Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1904 Main St., will hold its annual basket social and flea market 8 a.m.-8 p.m. Sept. 8 and 8 a.m.-3 p.m. Sept. 9 in the church basement. The drawing will be 3:30 p.m. Saturday. You don’t need to be present to win.
There are more than 350 items, including many local gift certificates, to be raffled off, so there will be something for everyone.
This event benefits Northampton Area Food Bank and the church.
The kitchen will also be open the same hours for food and beverages.

The public is invited to the annual family picnic hosted by Assumption B.V.M. Parish of Northampton Sept. 10 at Egypt Memorial Park.
The picnic will begin with an 11 a.m. outdoor Mass, followed by outdoor events noon-7 p.m.
Attendees can purchase ethnic foods and baked goods, play children’s games and games of chance, and purchase tickets for a basket raffle.
A deejay will provide music noon-3 p.m. Live music will be performed 3-7 p.m. by Pennsylvania Villagers.

The Atlas Cement Company Memorial Museum will be open 1-3 p.m. Sept. 10. It is located next to borough hall, 1401 Laubach Ave.
The museum will be open the second and fourth Sunday through September.

St. John’s Friendly Fifties group will have its 26th anniversary meeting 1 p.m. Sept. 11 in the church’s social hall, 1343 Newport Ave.
The rosary will be prayed 11:30 a.m. in the church. A luncheon will follow.

Northampton AARP Chapter 3915 will meet Sept. 13 at Northampton Banquet & Event Center, 16th Street and Laubach Avenue.
Doors open noon. Entertainment and refreshments will be provided.

Northampton Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4714 hosts polkas and button box music 7:30-10:30 p.m. every Friday night at the Post home, Main Street and Laubach Avenue. Doors open 6:30 p.m.
DJ Flip Side will entertain with oldies music 7:30-10:30 p.m. Sept. 30.
The social hall is accepting new members. Membership is open to everyone; previous military service is not required.
