Kathleen A. Bleiler

Kathleen A. Bleiler, 62, of Allentown, died peacefully at her home Aug. 31, 2017, following a battle with cancer.

She was a devoted wife of 34 years to her husband, Dean K. Bleiler.

Born Feb.19, 1955, in Allentown, she was the daughter of Frank D. Jr. and Jane A. (Schaffer) Savage of Allentown.

She graduated from Parkland High School in 1973 and from Mansfield University in 1977, from which she received a bachelor’s degree in music education.

While at Mansfield, she played with the band in London, England, and sang with the choir at St. Peter’s Basilica in Vatican City and at Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris.

She started her professional life as a music teacher but later earned her paralegal degree and worked for a Lehigh County magistrate for many years.

Throughout her adult life, she was involved with local orchestras, choirs and theater companies.

A member of The First Presbyterian Church of Allentown, she volunteered and formerly sang with the choir there.

She was an incredibly kind and thoughtful person and will be missed by all who knew her.

In addition to her husband and parents, she is survived by sons, Justin M. and Garrett D., both of Philadelphia; siblings Stephen D. Savage of Allentown, David M. Savage and his wife, Gari Lee of Palmerton, Mark W. Savage and his wife, Lauri ,of Texas, Kristine E. Rigler and her husband, Eric, of Allentown; many nieces and nephews.

Her memorial service will be 10:30 am. Sept.7 at The First Presbyterian Church of Allentown, 3231 W. Tilghman St. Allentown, with the Rev. Stephen T. Emick officiating.

Visitation period 9-10:30 am. Thursday in the church narthex.
