District hires assistant coaches for 2017-18 school year
Several assistant coaches for the 2017-18 school year have been hired in Northampton Area School District.
Hired at the Aug. 28 NASD Board of Education meeting, at the recommendation of the administration, were Robert Hahn, assistant boys soccer coach, at a stipend of $1,708, and Adam O’Hara, assistant girls volleyball coach, at $1,500.
Hired at the Aug. 14 NASD Board of Education meeting were Kayla Bringenberg, assistant cheerleading coach, $2,912, and Jacqueline Steidel, assistant cheerleading coach, $1,941.
At the Aug. 28 NASD Board of Education meeting, school directors voted 9-0 to approve:
Helen Deegan, short-term substitute physical education teacher, Northampton Area High School, retroactive to Aug. 28 through on or about Nov. 1, with continued employment pending receipt of appropriate documentation, at $125 per day, with no benefits;
Special education instructional assistants, at $12.07 per hour, with benefits: Kelsey Himmelwright, 1:1, Northampton Area Middle School, retroactive to Aug. 28; Yvonne Bachert, NAMS, retroactive to Aug. 28; Megan Snyder, NAMS, and Bridget King, NAMS, effective on or before Sept. 11, pending receipt of proper documentation, at $13.58 per hour, with benefits;

Collaborative agreement-contract for services between Community Services for Children Inc., Head Start of the Lehigh Valley and NASD for 2017-18 to implement Head Start pre-K for 20 pre-K students. There is no cost to the district for this program;
Lease agreement between First Student Inc. and NASD, effective Aug. 16-July 15, 2018;
Consultative transition services with Dr. Domenico Cavaiuolo, educational and rehabilitation consultant, for a student with special needs, at a cost not to exceed $2,000;
Elementary school from donors choice in response to a request placed by Christine Nemeh, ESL and counseling intern; and
Accept with appreciation $250 worth of clothing and school supplies for students at George Wolf Elementary School; 500 elementary-level books to NASD elementary students from logistics and material handling program at LCTI and First Book; and $250 worth of elementary-level books to NASD for Siegfried Elementary School in memory of Lynne Reagan Johnson.
