An entire slate of 1-0 teams matched up in an Eastern Pennsylvania Conference division that swept it’s northern counterpart last week.

Defending District 11 Class 5A champ Whitehall made a statement with a win over defending Eastern Pennsylvania Conference champ Emmaus, while Bethelehem Catholic and Freedom also rolled to wins.

In the Colonial League, Catasauqua and Salisbury both remained undefeated with victories on Friday night.

Emmaus-Whitehall

The Zephyrs beat Emmaus 42-35.

The hosts took an early lead on a 69-yard Ethan Parvel run and never led by more than a touchdown as the Hornets tied the game five times but could never pull in front.

Braxton Marrero’s 18-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter put the Zephs ahead for good.

Marrero ran for 190 yards and two touchdowns in the game. Parvel ran for 120 yards and a score while completing 11 of 18 passes for 134 yards and three touchdowns.

Dez Boykin caught eight passes for 107 yards and three touchdowns for the Zephs (2-0).

The Hornets’ Blake Reed passes for 128 yards and three touchdowns, completing 10 of 23 attempts.

Sone Ntoh ran for 116 yards on 21 carries, including one touchdown. Whitehall held Emmaus wide receiver Josh Artis to just three receptions for 41 yards. Izaiah McPherson and Deonte Castro also caught touchdown passes for the Hornets (1-1).

Bethlehem Catholic-Northampton

The Golden Hawks shut out the Konkrete Kids 48-0.

Tavion Banks ran for 132 yards on nine carries and scored three times for Bethlehem Catholic (2-0). Quarterback Javon Clements (6-for-10) threw for 121 yards and completed a touchdown pass to Christan Drayton. Daizhun Rhodes caught three passes for 73 yards for Bethlehem Catholic.

Hunter Wacik led Northampton (1-1) with 46 yards on 21 carries.

Allen-Freedom

The Patriots routed the Canaries 42-0.

Jared Jenkins played a part in five Freedom touchdowns. He threw for 188 yards and three touchdowns while going 8-for-13 with one interception. Jenkins also scored twice on just three carries for Freedom (2-0). He had 35 yards and was one of seven Patriot rushers with 17 or more yards. Matthew Russin led Freedom ball carriers with 69 yards and a touchdown on six carries. Alec Huertas had 44 yards on three carries.

Huertas caught six passes for 77 yards and a score. Kyree Marshburn had a 68-yard touchdown reception and Justus Grube hauled in a 43-yard TD pass.

Allen’s Romeo Wright went 7-for-17 for 45 yards. He also ran 11 times for 21 yards.

Liberty-Easton

The Rovers beat Liberty 24-7.

Easton improves to 2-0, while the Hurricanes fall to 1-1.

Salisbury-Northwestern

The Falcons edged the Tigers 7-3.

Northwestern took the lead on a second-quarter field goal, but the Falcons’ Kyle Pingarelli scored from four yards out in the third quarter for the game’s only touchdown.

Pingarelli ran for 61 yards on 18 carries in the defensive battle. The Tigers (0-2) were led on the ground by Jayden Allen’s 62 yards on 21 carries.

Cameron Vaka passed for 86 yards, going 5-for-14 for Salisbury (2-0). Lucas Irwin caught three of Vaka’s passes for 56 yards.

The Tigers’ Deven Bollinger completed eight of his 16 passes for 67 yards. Caleb Clymer caught four passes for 33 yards for Northwestern. Hunter Miller made a 39-yard field goal to account for his team’s only points.

Catasauqua-Northern Lehigh

The Rough Riders improved to 2-0 with a win 38-20 over Northern Lehigh.

The Rough Riders jumped out to a 21-0 lead as Wil-Quon Clemons raced 41 yards with a fumble recovery for one score and Justis Jourdain returned an interception 45 yards for another score.

Northern Lehigh (0-2) pulled within 24-20 before the Catty responded with touchdown runs by Derrick Rodriguez and Clemons on their next two possessions to seal the victory.
