Fair weather:The Great Allentown Fair, which began Aug. 29, continues through Sept. 4, Labor Day. Headlining the Grandstand concerts: Thomas Rhett, who performed Aug. 29, and Keith Urban, Aug. 30; John Mellencamp, Aug. 31; Rascal Flatts, Sept. 1; Pentatonix, Sept. 2, and Tito Nieves, Ivy Queen, Jose´ Alberto “El Canario,” Sept. 3. The J&J Demolition Derby, in front of the Grandstand, is Sept. 4. The 165th edition of the Fair commemorates the 100th anniversary of Camp Crane, the Allentown Fairgrounds’ transformation into a World War I United States Army Ambulance Service training camp. Also, at the Fair are more than 1,000 farm animals in Agri-Land. Additional outdoor attractions include the 4-H Petting Zoo, antique tractor display and Lil’ Farm Hands. Inside the Agri-Plex are more than 9,000 entries competing for blue ribbons; the Farm to Table series of chef demonstrations and culinary tips, and the Iron Chef Competition. Agri-Plex Square and its Harvest Patio provides seating, craft-style beers, acoustic musicians and stage shows. The RCN Farmerama Theater has entertainment, music, sports talk and the Marvelous Mutts Canine Spectacular. The MainGate Bier Garten and Nightclub offers a Sept. 2 concert by the Jimmy Sturr Orchestra. Powers Great American Midways provides rides. What a Riot:Quiet Riot performs at 8 p.m. Sept. 7, Penn’s Peak, 325 Maury Road, Jim Thorpe. Quiet Riot, with a soon-to-be-released album, “Road Rage,” is the subject of a feature documentary film, “Now You’re Here, There’s No Way Back.” Quiet Riot’s 1983 album, “Metal Health,” is the first heavy metal album to top the Billboard album chart. Drummer Frankie Banali revived the band in 2010, with the lineup including lead vocalist James Durbin (“American Idol” finalist), bassist Chuck Wright and guitarist Alex Grossi, with no founding members remaining.
