MEALS ON WHEELS

Clients of Berks Encore Meals on Wheels program in Berks County have been contacted by a scammer who said he was from the Meals on Wheels organization, authorities said through a recent media release.

The targeted individuals reported the caller knew a variety of personal details, including the names of their children and financial institutions. The scammer asked the individual to provide information about his/her home, home ownership status, rent/mortgage information and bank account information.

This is yet another scam trying to get financial information.

Meals on Wheels of Lehigh County has warned its clients no staff from its office will call on the phone asking to update financial information unless the client has requested the staff to do so. Office staff have told clients to hang up and report such calls to the Meals on Wheels office at 610-398-2563.
