At the Aug. 17 Lower Macungie Township Board of Commissioners meeting, there was discussion on the proposed lot line adjustment at the Fields at Indian Creek.

The Fields at Indian Creek on Indian Creek Road are not in the township but the traffic will be on a road not conducive to traffic.

The problem is there is only one entrance and exit on Indian Creek Road. Lower Macungie Township is suggesting another public entrance, not a private one.

A motion to deny plans was approved.

The plans for the new CVS, Route 100 and Willow Lane, will be extended for another 30 days due to a lack of stormwater drainage plans.

Al Perez was named to the planning commission. His term will expire Jan. 1, 2021.

Residents continue to complain about truck traffic, particularly on back roads. Roads mentioned were Willow Lane, Lower Macungie Road and Willow Spur. Signs are going up and one of three is already in place. The roads already are prohibited to trucks.

Commissioners have asked for a time extension of the closure of the railroad tracks on Orchard Road. This was approved.

The topic of traffic at Brookfield Farms was discussed again. Traffic cuts through the development during school dismissal and causes unsafe situations. A family from the development attended the meeting and suggested signage such as, “Local Traffic only.” It was also suggested to put cones up during school dismissal time to block the traffic. It is thought the situation will correct itself when a traffic light is installed at Willow Lane and Sauerkraut Lane.

It was also discussed to have the code enforcement officer sit at the intersection as his truck has flashing lights on it. This situation will be checked again to make sure it is working out.

The intersection of Schantz Road and Hamilton Boulevard will now have a right turn only lane on Schantz Road, tuning right onto Hamilton Boulevard. This will happen when the traffic signal is changed, adding a right turn signal.
