The Emmaus Commemorative Gardens Foundation will hold its annual brick installation to honor local community heroes 5 p.m. Sept. 7 at the garden, 164 E. Main St. The bricks will honor police, firefighters and ambulance personnel with bricks in the Community Heroes Walkway.

Following the garden’s dedication, be sure to stop at the Emmaus Public Library, 11 E. Main St., for the library’s Community Heroes Day festivities 6 p.m. until dark Sept. 7. This event, which is held in the library’s parking lot, is an opportunity to celebrate and thank our community heroes. Youngsters can climb on a fire truck, view the inside of an ambulance and talk with first responders and police officers. In case of inclement weather, the rain date is 7 p.m. Sept. 14.

St. Ann Church, 415 S. Sixth St., will hold its annual Fall Fest, Sept. 7 through 9. The festival is held 5 to 10 p.m. Sept. 7, 5 to 11 p.m. Sept. 8 and 4 to 11 p.m. Sept. 9. The festival features live music, homemade ethnic food, kid-friendly all-American food and desserts, carnival rides and games, a beer garden, raffles, nightly bingo and more. There are tents for rain or shine.

Emmaus will hold its community yard sale 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 9. No fee is required. Rain date is Sept. 10.

The Emmaus Community Pool is open noon to 8 p.m. Sept. 2 and 3 and noon to 5 p.m. Sept. 4.

The borough office will be closed Sept. 4 for the Labor Day holiday. Borough council will meet 7 p.m. Sept. 5 and 18. The budget and finance committee meets 6:45 to 7 p.m. prior to council’s meetings.

The Emmaus Main Street Partners will host a Farewell to Summer Festival 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 10 at Triangle Park in Emmaus. The event features family friendly activities for children, live music, artisan, nonprofit and service vendors, a beverage bar, the mystery basket family cooking challenge, a free showing of the Trolls Movie at the Emmaus Theatre and more. The Emmaus Historical Society monthly meeting will be a presentation, “Stories about the 1803 House,” 7 p.m. Sept. 20 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Fifth and Chestnut streets. Marian Schneck, vice president of the Friends of the 1803 House, will present a slide show of the historic house built by Jacob Ehrenhardt, including details on the archeological dig next to the historical house, a room-by-room tour of the inside of the house and projects completed by two Eagle Scouts.

Emmaus Heritage Alliance will hold a festival 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 24 in the back lawn of the Emmaus Historical Society, 218 Main St. The Alliance is celebrating 25 years as a forum for telling the story of Emmaus. Alliance members include the Emmaus Historical Society, Shelter House, Knauss Homestead, 1803 House, the Emmaus Public Library, Emmaus Moravian Church, Emmaus Remembrance Garden and the Emmaus Main Street Partners. The event will demonstrate history can be fun. The festival will include inside and outside displays of its member groups, live music, storytelling, a food truck and games. Emmaus Senior Citizens meet 1 p.m. every Friday at St. Matthew’s E.C.C. Church, Fifth and Ridge streets. All local senior citizens are welcome. The programs for September are Sept. 8: a gospel singer; Sept. 15: a film; Sept. 22: Dick Roberts, musician and Sept. 29: bingo.

The Knauss Homestead Preservation Society is a new organization with the purpose of preserving the historical homestead, 164 E. Main St. (rear).
