UPPER MACUNGIE POLICE

Upper Macungie Township Police responded to a report of a theft just after 3:30 p.m. Aug. 4 at Kia Motors, 6575 Snowdrift Road, Upper Macungie.

Police say the business reported a Fluke 1507 electronic testing device was taken sometime between 10 a.m. Aug. 1 and Aug. 4.

Police responded on July 25 to a report of a theft at Air Products and Chemical, 7201 Hamilton Blvd., Breinigsville.

Police say James Emanuel Garcia-Rios, 18, of the 1900 block of Virginia St., Upper Macungie, was allegedly shown on security footage removing an iPhone 5s belonging to Air Products from an office within the building.

Charges were filed against Garcia-Rios.

Upper Macungie Township police say a customer left behind a wallet at Blue Lizard Winery, 7370 Hamilton Boulevard, Upper Macungie, on July 8.

Police say, through video surveillance, they saw Jennifer Bortz, 48, of Topton, an employee of the winery, allegedly take the wallet from the bar and placed it in her purse.

Charges were filed against Bortz and the case is awaiting further court action.

Police say a 20-year-old woman from the 100 block of Chestnut St., Upper Macungie, reported p.m. July 26 a Blue- tooth speaker was taken from her belongings while at the swimming pool in the Green Acres Mobile Home Park, 8785 Turkey Ridge Road, Breinigsville.

Police responded to a report of a hit and run around 8 a.m. Aug. 14, just north of the intersection with Schantz Road, in the area of 29 N. Route 100, Upper Macungie.

Police say Beth Nothstein, 54, of Trexlertown, was northbound on Route 100 in the far right lane when the driver of a Chevrolet car attempted to pass her on the right where there is a very narrow shoulder.

Police say the Chevrolet struck Nothstein’s 2005 Chevrolet Silverado along its right side with its driver’s side mirror as it passed Nothstein’s truck which was stopped in traffic.

According to a witness, the Chevrolet turned right into the parking lot at 29 N. Route 100.

The witness described the vehicle as a black, Chevrolet passenger car, model unknown.
