New Tripoli Fire Co. receives FEMA grant

During the Lynn Township supervisors’ meeting, the New Tripoli Fire company reported as of Aug. 7 123 calls were received for the year.

The fire company will have a Guns and Cash Bash 4-8 p.m. Sept. 23.

Also noted was the fire company received a $22,858 Federal Emergency Management grant.

This money will be used for a gear extractor and dryer.

Lynnport Fire Company reported four calls for July with a total of 29 for the year.

Two firefighters will complete training shortly for the Firefighter One course.

Roadmaster Bruce Raber’s report showed the crew was busy in July.

Among other things, the crew swept the roads, oiled and chipped, fixed dirt roads, did shoulder mowing, and helped other townships with projects.

Hummingbird Road was paved and some work was competed in Ontelaunee Park.

After a public hearing, the mini cell tower ordinance was adopted.

This will regulate where these types of towers can be placed.

Township Engineer Chris Noll stated the township must install fencing in some areas of the park.

Also at the park, The Large Flowerheads will perform 2-5 p.m. Sept. 24.

The Pioneer Day Festival will take place on Oct. 7.

New restrooms, constructed so they are ADA compliant, are ordered for Leaser Lake.

Supervisors agreed to waive any fees required for this project.

Raber reported the office has received complaints about how deep the manhole covers were since the state repaved Kings Highway.

As this is a state road, the township has no jurisdiction in the matter.

Raber has notified PennDOT about the problem.
