Kiheem Abdul Bess, 32, of Reading, was taken into custody on suspicion of driving under the influence of a controlled substance after a traffic stop for allegedly speeding on Interstate 78 westbound at mile marker 55.0, Salisbury Township, 3:11 a.m. July 13. Bess also allegedly was found to be in possession of a small amount of marijuana at the time of the traffic stop. Bess also was charged with suspicion of use or possession of drug paraphernalia, driving without a license and other charges, according to court documents.
Michael M. Salley, 27, of Philadelphia, was charged with suspicion of driving under the influence, driving at safe speed, careless driving and other charges after a traffic accident on Interstate 78 westbound off ramp to Route 29 12:33 a.m. May 14. According to Pennsylvania State Police Fogelsville, Salley was operating a 1998 Honda Civic passenger car at a speed too fast for the conditions of the roadway. The vehicle went on to the shoulder of the roadway before striking a concrete barrier and spinning clockwise before stopping, facing west and partially in the road. According to police, Salley and his passenger, a 27-year-old woman, also of Philadelphia, were hurt in the accident and transported to Lehigh Valley Hospital by Cetronia Ambulance at the time. Charges were filed, according to court records.
