Northwestern graduate elected to national architectural board

Darryl Hamm, a 1968 graduate of Northwestern Lehigh High School, was recently installed as a public director of the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards.

The installation took place at the national council’s 98th annual business meeting in Boston, Mass.

As a member of NCARB’s Board of Directors, Hamm will provide the organization with a valuable outside perspective.

A former resident of New Tripoli, Hamm, now of Harrisburg, was first appointed to the Pennsylvania State Architects Licensure Board in 2011 by former Gov. Tom Corbett.

In addition to his service to the architecture profession, Hamm has held a number of key leadership positions in the military and public sector.

In 2011, he joined the board of directors for Keystone Service Systems, an organization committed to providing services that support and empower individuals and communities. In 2016, he was elected chairman of the board.

After more than 36 years of full-time military service, Hamm retired from the Army National Guard with the rank of chief warrant officer five. Over the course of his career, Hamm was made the first command chief warrant officer for the Pennsylvania Army National Guard and served as a regional chair on the National Guard Bureau’s Warrant Officer Advisory Council.

In 2006, he was awarded the U.S. Army’s Legion of Merit and the Pennsylvania Distinguished Service Medal.

Hamm earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in organizational management from Eastern University, with honors in 2002, and a Master of Business Administration degree from Shippensburg University, with honors in 2004.

Hamm also completed the Reserve Components National Security Course at the National Defense University.

Active in his church, St. John’s Lutheran Church, Hoernerstown, Hamm serves as vice president of its council.

Additionally, he recently served on the church’s pastoral call committee.

The son of Carolyn and Robert Hamm Jr., lifelong natives of New Tripoli, Hamm and his wife, Carol, have one daughter, Melissa Hagenow of Jonestown.
