SKillsUSA honored dozens of local students at its 31st annual Elmer Gates awards breakfast, held May 25 at the Best Western Conference Center. Among them was Whitehall High School student Fabian Montano.

SkillsUSA Council founder Gates established the program to recognize students at local career and technical schools for exemplifying qualities desirable as both a student and prospective employee.

The Elmer Gates Enterprise Awards are presented to students based on their scholastic achievement, school and community involvement, entrepreneurial spirit and involvement in SkillsUSA. Each winner was given a plaque and $100 gift card.
