Camp Jefferson: Kids enjoy games in last week of camp
It was week eight at Camp Jefferson, and neither the counselors nor the campers could believe summer is just about over. The past eight, fun-filled weeks flew by! The counselors were dedicated to making this last week just as fun.
Week eight started off on the rainy side, but the campers had an entertaining day inside. Monday began with a competitive game of Dodgeball. Two teams battled it out to see who could remain standing. Afterward, the campers cooled off with Night at the Museum and Sleeping Lions. Before lunch, the campers used their free time to play round after round of Four Square. The rain continued throughout the afternoon, but the campers relaxed inside with popcorn, pink lemonade and “Moana.”
Tuesday was another movie day! Camper Jefferson embraced this week’s slumber party theme as they traveled to the Roxy Theater. All the campers were excited to watch “Captain Underpants.” The sun finally came out this week, and the campers were happy to spend the afternoon at the pool.
On Wednesday, the campers started the day with a craft. Each camper was able to tie-dye a pillowcase. The campers were extremely excited to see how their pillowcase turned out. Afterward, the campers played some of their favorite games: Capture the Flag, Cops and Robbers, Knock Out and Dodgeball.
The fun and games continued on Thursday. The campers played games like Fastest in the West, Kickball and Silent Ball. After lunch, they cooled off with their favorite water game: Splash Out. Ending the day, the Jefferson counselors handed out Paper Plate awards for each camper. The campers were excited to hear each award. Some of the favorites were “most likely to have their shoes untied” and “most likely to flip their hair.”
Camp Jefferson and Camp Cementon spent the last day of camp together. The campers used the day however they liked, playing their favorite games from the summer. They even got to enjoy a catered lunch. The Camp Jefferson counselors were sad to see the summer end but had a blast this summer.
Campers of the Week were Corey N. and Brianna M. Campers of the Summer were Aryan D. and Seraphim K.
Great job at camp, and we will do it all over again next year!
