Police are looking for a man who allegedly fled during a drug investigation and struck a member of the Allentown Police Vice Unit, causing the officer to roll over the hood of the vehicle.

Allentown police, with assistance from South Whitehall police and the Lehigh County Drug Task Force, were conducting an investigation in the 2300 block of Fairmont Street, South Whitehall Township, at approximately 3:15 p.m. Aug. 2.

Lehigh County District Attorney Jim Martin says David Vega, 29, was observed seated in a vehicle, which he exited and then entered a house on Fairmont Street.

Shortly after entering, Vega exited the house carrying a black plastic bag and re-entered the vehicle.

Officers attempted to secure him at the scene, however, he fled and allegedly struck an Allentown Police Vice Unit member.

The officer did not sustain severe injuries or require hospitalization.

Vega drove east on Fairmont Street at a high rate of speed, turned south on 22nd Street and hit a pole.

He left the vehicle and fled on foot.

Vega is not in custody and there is a warrant for his arrest.

Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call the Lehigh County Drug Task Force at 610-821-9325.

A short distance from the crash scene, a black plastic bag was retrieved which allegedly contained suspected heroin and marijuana.

The suspected drugs were field tested. The results of the testing were allegedly positive for both heroin and marijuana.

Martin announced Aug. 3 Vega, of 2325 W. Fairmont St., South Whitehall Township, was charged by the Lehigh County Drug Task Force with one count each of aggravated assault, a first degree felony, and recklessly endangering another person, a second degree misdemeanor.

In addition, he was charged with five counts of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, a felony, and six counts of possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor.

Lissete Wong, 27, of 440 E. Mosser St., Allentown, was also charged.

At approximately 6:40 p.m., Wong was seen at the Fairmont Street property. She was approached by members of the Drug Task Force and Allentown Police Vice Unit officers.

She allegedly had keys which allowed access to the property. Task Force members secured a search warrant to enter and search the property.

A search revealed suspected drugs, packaging material, money and two grinders with residue.

The suspected drugs allegedly field tested positive. The drugs seized drugs included methamphetamine, several ounces of heroin, cocaine, marijuana and 22 bundles of heroin.

Wong was charged with four counts each of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance.

She was arraigned the evening of Aug. 2 and released on unsecured bail.

Martin commended Detective Jason Krasley and the Allentown Police Department for their work on this investigation.

He also commended and acknowledged the assistance given by the South Whitehall Township Police Department and the Lehigh County Drug Task Force.
