Aug. 17

A free informational session on adoption and child foster care will be held 6 p.m. Aug. 17 at Diakon Adoption & Foster Care, located on the campus of The Lutheran Home at Topton, One S. Home Ave., Topton. People interested in attending the session are asked to call 888-582-2230 or 610-682-1504 to register. Diakon Adoption & Foster Care staff will explain foster parenting as well as the processes involved in adopting a child. Attendees also will learn about children available for adoption as well as the foster-to-adopt program and a new service providing foster care for medically fragile children.

Luther Crest will host a free public concert by the Macungie Band 7 p.m. at the senior living community, 800 Hausman Road. The band will perform a variety of patriotic music, Broadway hits, movie tunes, overtures, classics and more. People interested in attending are asked to bring a lawn chair. In case of inclement weather, the concert will be held in Crest Hall in the senior living community.
