Boilers maintenance pact for NASD schools approved

A contract for boilers maintenance at schools in the Northampton Area School District has been approved by the board of education.

The three-year service agreement at a cost of $13,176 annually with Loikits Industrial Services Inc., Coplay, from July 1 through June 30, 2020, to clean, inspect and service the district’s boilers is for the following costs and locations:

$2,728 at George Wolf Elementary School for three boilers and one water heater;

$3,790 at Northampton Area High School for three boilers, one water heater and two kitchen roof units;

$900 at the maintenance building for five ceiling heaters and one furnace;

$2,817 at Moore Elementary School for two boilers; and

$2,941 at Siegfried Elementary School for three boilers.

The board of education also voted 9-0 at the July 17 meeting to approve, at the recommendation of the NASD administration:

A three-year service agreement with Diversified Refrigeration Inc., Dublin, Bucks County, from July 1 through June 30, 2020, to clean, inspect and service at a cost of $5,650 for four boilers, six water heaters and one pool heater at Northampton Area Middle School.

Submission of the special education plan revision notice is reflective of the 2017-18 special education programming.

The board of education voted 9-0 at the June 26 meeting to approve, at the recommendation of the NASD administration:

An hourly rate of $165 for legal services from NASD solicitor Atty. C. Steven Miller, effective July 1, and a retainer of $5,000 per year to attend up to a maximum of 23 advertised regularly scheduled public board of education meetings;

Contract renewal with Providastaff-EDUHealthcare for speech and language services at Colonel John Siegfried Elementary School and/or other district buildings based on student needs at a cost not to exceed $68,544;

Renewal contract with Providastaff-EDUHealthcare for a certified special education teacher to provide home instruction for students with special needs at a cost not to exceed $48,960;

Renewal contract with Erika Fitzpatrick, certified Wilson Reading Program instructor, for the delivery of school-based services utilizing the Wilson Reading Program at a cost not to exceed $7,350;

Contract for Erika Condomitti to provide homebound instruction and ESY for a NASD student at a cost not to exceed $2,908.70; and

Blackboard Inc., 1111 19th Street NW, Washington, D.C., to provide website design, hosting, support and training at a cost of $10,540 and renewable annually.

The board of education voted 9-0 at the May 8 meeting to approve, at the recommendation of the NASD administration:

Brigette Bailey, an extension to her unpaid leave of absence, with insurance, through April 21, 2017;

Christine Marto, a paid childbearing leave of absence, May 17, 2017, through June 1, 2017, and an unpaid FMLA childbearing leave, June 1, 2017, through the end of the 2016-17 school year, with insurance;

Voluntary transfer of Christopher Erdo, Northampton Area Middle School science teacher, to the temporary assignment of long-term substitute general physical science teacher at Northampton Area High School, effective for the 2017-18 school year;

Reclassification of Jeffrey Fragnito and Jason Gray, from category I/group B, technology assistant to category I/group A, technology technician, effective July 1, 2017;

Athletic ticket prices for the 2017-18 school year: student, $3; adult, $5 and senior citizen (62 and over), free; and

Creation of Lou Wolf Scholarship Fund to benefit senior scholar athletes.
