Applications are available and being accepted through Aug. 12 for eligible students to receive the $1,000 Greenawald Memorial Scholarship presented at The Great Allentown Fair in honor of former fair President William F. Greenawald.
The annual scholarship was established and first presented in 2015 by Patricia Greenawald and her children commemorating her husband’s longtime devotion to the fair prior to his passing in 2008.
Eligible candidates must have exhibited at least one year in any of the fair’s blue ribbon competitive entry categories that are annually judged and on display.
Students to be considered must be high school or vocational school graduates who have been accepted for admission by a two- or four-year accredited higher-education or post high school vocational institution.
The scholarship committee is searching for demonstrated scholarship ability, leadership qualities and involvement in student and/or community activities.
Patricia Greenawald and her family will award the scholarship at the fair during the Agricultural Recognition Awards ceremony that takes place Aug. 30 inside Agri-Plex.
Applications are available at the Allentown Fair office, located behind the Ritz Barbecue on the Allentown Fairgrounds at 17th and Chew streets during office hours of 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays.
