Residents bring complaints to Lynn Township board

Lynn Township’s supervisors meeting in June opened with several residents voicing complaints in relation to a situation on Sassafras Road.

The issue concerned property which has apparently left unattended.

John Halasovski stated that bags of garbage are visible on the site along with furniture and clothes strewed on the property.

There are also horses and dogs on the property left unattended and the weeds were not mowed.

One nearby resident, Cheri Fager, alleged she was bitten by the dogs.

Rodents have been noticed on the property, also.

Neighbors said their quality of life has diminished since these problems have arisen along with devaluation of the nearby properties.

Zoning officer Chris Noll said the dog problem must be handled by the dog warden.

He did say, however, the township could take action on the other offenses.

He outlined the process that would have to be taken. Noll noted that a letter had been sent to the property owner giving 15 days to remedy the situation.

Roadmaster Bruce Raber, in his report, told the board roads and areas in Ontelaunee Park are ready to be paved.

The crew was busy cold patching, mowing grass and getting the roads in shape to oil and chip.

Four items in the audit report were addressed.

The solicitor had reviewed the items and informed the board that they could move ahead with the adoption of these recommendations.

Kathy Hermany received two quotes for the demolition of the burned out mobile home in New Tripoli.

East Penn Excavating won the bid with a figure of $9,550.

The draft cell tower ordinance must be revised. Only a minor revision is necessary before the board can vote on adoption.

Chairman Justin Smith, representing the Northwestern Recreation Committee, noted he received a copy of the constitution and by-laws. A committee was formed to study and revise this document.

Township Solicitor Mark Fisher was ordered to bid on a certain property for the township.

This property is in New Tripoli on Madison Street.

The Board decided that the old pavilion at Ontelaunee Park should be demolished and the site should be made available for other uses such as volleyball courts

Russel Wambold of Hoffadeckel Court asked the board to check his neighbors property.

He claims that he has lots of garbage on the property and a vehicle with an outdated vehicle sticker.

Noll will investigate the property to see what can be done.
