Congratulations to all the Emmaus Library’s summer club readers. I hope you went on some exciting book adventures.

The Emmaus Library, 11 E. Main St., will host events for the whole family all week long leading up to the summer reading club’s finale Aug. 19.

The program finale for the summer reading club, “Build a Better World,” will be “Backyard Wildlife,” presented by the Wildlands Conservancy and their friends on the library’s lawn 2 p.m. Aug. 19. Bring your blankets and lawn chairs to enjoy the show. For information, visit www.emmauspl.org.

An additional bonus for all the summer readers will be a pool party 5 to 8 p.m. Aug. 21 at the Emmaus Community Pool. All you have to do is show your library card for free admission. See the front desk, the library’s website or Facebook for more information or call 610- 965-9284.

The library will host the teen film series 6:30 p.m. Aug. 3 and 17. The film matinee will be 2 p.m. Aug. 5. Monday morning movies are 10:30 a.m. Aug. 7, 14 and 21. Bring your sleeping bag and pillow to stretch out during the show.

The performance for the participants in the teen storytelling workshop is 7 p.m. Aug. 8. Dress rehearsal is 2 p.m. Aug. 1. RSVP to epikids@cliu.org or 610-965-9284, ext. 209.

The adult daytime book group meets 2 p.m. Aug. 1. Pre-registration is required. Sign up at the front desk.

The library invites the public to come in and reminisce about Dorney Park during the presentation on the history of the park 7 p.m. Aug. 7. The Lehigh Valley Heritage Museum helped prepare the program. RSVP to 610-965-9284, ext. 210 or eplcollection@cliu.org.

The library is establishing a seed lending library for gardeners. Bring your seeds and/or produce and swap them with other gardeners 10 a.m. to noon Aug. 26.

Open Mic Night will be held 7 p.m. Aug. 28. Performer’s sign up starts 6:45 p.m. Audience members are welcome.

Movie night for adults is 6:30 p.m. Aug. 29 and the movie matinee is 1 p.m. Aug. 31.

The mobile office for state Sen. Lisa Boscola, D-18th, will be at the library 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Aug. 28.

The Emmaus Moravian Church in honor of its 270th anniversary will hold a community Lovefeast 6 p.m. July 30 at the Arts Pavilion in Emmaus Community Park.

The Emmaus Historical Society museum, 218 Main St., is open noon to 4 p.m. Saturdays and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sundays. For information, email emmaushist@ptd.net or visit emmaushistoric.pa.org.

The deadline for ordering soup during the Emmaus Historical Society’s Sept. 20 soup sale is Sept. 15. The deadline for tickets for the bus trip to American Music Theater in Lancaster to see the Aug. 22 Vegas legends matinee is Aug. 1. Emmaus Borough Council will meet 7 p.m. Aug. 21. Residents can drop off E-waste at the E-waste dumpster beside the Public Works Department garage on Kline’s Lane. The Emmaus Community Park pool will be open noon to 8 p.m. Aug. 1 through 27. It will be closed Aug. 28 through Sept. 1. It will reopen noon to 8 p.m. Sept. 2 and 3 and will be open noon to 5 p.m. Sept. 4.

Aqua Zumba is held 6:30 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays at the pool as long as the pool is open in August. There is a cost to enter the pool for this activity. For pool information, call 610-928-1130 during pool operating hours.

Zumba in the park continues 9 a.m. every Saturday in August at the Community Park Arts Pavilion. This activity is free and open to the public.

Sunday concerts in the park during August are Aug. 6: Red Hill Band; Aug. 13: Steel Creek Country Music Band; Aug. 20: Main Street Cruisers and Aug. 27: Scott Marshall and the Hill Billy Souls.

The Friday Night Movie in the Park will be held 8:15 p.m. Aug. 25 at Emmaus Community Park. The feature is “The Lego Batman.” For information, visit borough.emmaus.pa.us.

The Emmaus Moravian Church, 146 Main St., will hold a free Back to School Shop, open to the public, 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Aug. 19 in the church’s fellowship hall. For information, call the church office at 610-965-6067.

The program for the Emmaus Garden Club’s Aug. 1 meeting is “Hummingbirds: Reality, Not Fantasy” presented by Arlene Koch who has been birding for more than 40 years. She is an avid hummingbird enthusiast who has seen many tropical hummingbird species. The group meets noon with the program beginning 12:30 p.m. at Faith Presbyterian Church, North Second and Cherokee streets.

The Emmaus Farmers Market is held 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. every Sunday in the BB&T bank parking lot, 235 Main St. Each Sunday there is usually musical entertainment and representatives at the community booths. The Emmaus Public Singing Society will perform Aug. 6. Remedy Guitar Project will entertain Aug. 13. Aug. 20 is customer appreciation day. For information, visit emmausmarket.com/events.

Registration is now open for the Emmaus Rotary Club’s 10th annual golf tournament, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sept. 11 at Brookside Country Club. Proceeds benefit the club’s various service projects. For information, visit www.emmausrotary.org.
