To the Editor:
We have two current critical problems in Allen Township.
Problem 1 - more warehouses are coming to Allen Township (Route 329 and Howertown, Seemsville and Weaversville roads will be disasters). How nice.
The residents don’t want it, but big money (Jaindl, Liberty Property Trust, Rockefeller Group, etc.) does and could care less about the local residents. Just ask the residents of the Macungie and Alburtis areas. And, if the residents and the township say, “No,” we get sued.
Problem 2 - school property taxes. When all these concrete and steel eyesores are built, does anyone think maybe our Northampton Area School District taxes might not increase for some time? Don’t be foolish with that thought. The more the school district gets, the more it wants.
There is no end to the madness.
The next disaster for Allen Township is development of the seminary and adjoining farmland properties. Allen Township is no longer a “rural” community. So how’s that “government of the people, by the people and for the people” working out for us?
