A Salem Witch Trial will be re-enacted at noon and 2 p.m. July 22, Lehigh Valley Heritage Museum, 432 W. Walnut St., Allentown.
“This event is based on true testimony and real facts as they occurred in Salem, Massachusetts, more than 300 years ago,” said Joseph Garrera, Executive Director of the Museum.
“We want to give the public a sense of reality, to experience first-hand what these men and women endured as their lives were destroyed when they were unlucky enough to be subjected to the charge of ‘witchcraft,’” said Garrera.
Based on transcripts and facts from a trial in 1692 in Salem, Mass., museum officials will recreate a courtroom scene. Museum officials conferred with witchcraft scholars in Salem, Mass., including the director of education at the Salem Witch Museum.
