Twilight concert draws crowd to winery

It couldn’t have been a more perfect summer night.

A large crowd of music lovers packed the barn at Pinnacle Ridge July 8 while smaller groups clustered in intimate bunches along the terraces and in the corners of the scenic winery.

Inside the spacious barn, overstuffed chairs and settees welcomed guests meeting up with family and friends under strings of lights crisscrossing above them.

Frog Holler took the stage, performing two unhurried sets.

Singer songwriter Darren Schlappich, along with band members John Kilgore on guitar, Dan Bower on drums, Mike Lavdanski on banjo, Josh Scuerman on bass and Cory Heller on keyboard charmed the crowd with pleasing sounds combining mountain blues, country rock and bluegrass.

“We’ve been playing for 20 years,” Schlappich said. “My partner in crime, on the banjo, well, today is his birthday.”
