SALISBURY PLANNING COMMISSION

The Salisbury Township Planning Commission has approved giving a portion of land to a property owner adjacent to Lindberg Park because of a mix-up before the park was there.

Planners voted 6-1, with one abstention at the July 11 meeting, to approve the Minor Subdivision and Lot Consolidation Plan between the owner of 2860 Lindberg Ave. and Salisbury Township.

At the meeting, planners also discussed the township Subdivision And Land Development Plan.

Salisbury Township Manager Cathy Bonaskiewich attended the planning commission meeting representing the township concerning the Lindberg Park matter.

Atty. John, W. Ashley, Salisbury Township Solicitor, explained to planners the matter was a “boundary issue with a neighboring property.” Planners’ approval meant the deed for the parcel would be turned over to the property owner.

“Why are we doing this?” Stephen McKitish, planning commission vice-chairman asked. “Did they build the house in the park in the first place?”

It was explained the house was built during the 1940s. A patio was later added. The park property line ran through the back corner of the house.

“A portion of this house was on township property,” Salisbury Township Consulting Engineer David J. Tettemer said.

After the meeting, Tettemer told a reporter for The Press the house was built prior to the development of Lindberg Park. The property and house is owned by Susan L. Didra. The area of land the township will deed to the property owner is 2,091-square- feet.

Planners will hold its next meeting, 7:30 p.m. Aug. 8, in the municipal building, 2900 S. Pike Ave.
