The fourth week with our Jefferson campers culminated in a rainy Friday afternoon. However, in a week that seemed to be marked with ominous and poor weather, it couldn’t put a damper on the jovial activities at camp this past week.
Due to the Fullerton Fair, both camps were housed at Cementon for the week. One would think this would complicate the proceedings of campers and counselors alike; however, our temporary asylum at Camp Cementon did no less than make games such as Dodgeball and Indian Chief more competitive and exciting.
Speaking of exciting, on Tuesday, Jefferson had a high-octane excursion in the form of a trip to the Lehigh Valley Grand Prix in Allentown. The young racers were all split into their separate groups and competed to see who could get the fastest lap times in a professional setting. When the drivers weren’t burning rubber on the track, they could be seen on the floor in the game room competing in hand bowling, billiards and air hockey.
On Wednesday, our campers became fashion designers for our craft. We gave every camper the option to use fabric markers to customize their own hat however they liked.
Throughout the week, we also played plenty of fun games - Protect the Chair, Cops and Robbers, Hide and Go Seek, Knock Out and more than our fair share of pickup basketball, just to name a few.
Our theme this week was sports, so on Friday, our campers had to wear their favorite sports jersey. Unfortunately, our Friday consisted of persistent rain, which kept the campers inside all day, much to the collective dismay. However, Four Square, Dodgeball and other games kept the campers busy. After lunch, when everyone was starting to unwind, we let the campers decide what movie they wanted to watch to finish off the day.
Our Campers of the Week were Conner and Bailey. All campers are looking forward to their next week.
