Sue Giralico of the Lynn Township Recreation Committee said the July 9 car show at Ontelaunee Park was the largest of the previous eight shows by six cars.

There were 146 registered entries compared to the previous high of 140.

“People are enjoying themselves and it is a beautiful day,” Giralico said.

Jason “Slim” Szerencits of Catasauqua brought his 1971 FLH Harley Shovelhead bike, which he calls “an eye catcher, a lot of fun,” to share with others.

He said the motorcycle is 95 percent original. Although repainted, it is the same color as when it was new.

Szerencits, who has been riding since he was 16, upgrades his bike just enough to keep it running.

Harvey and Janet Beers of Palmerton built their truck from scratch.

Their “Mom & Pops Wineberry” vehicle would not qualify as a street rod, but with the help of a magistrate, who hand-carried the paperwork to Harrisburg, they received registration for a specialty constructed truck.

Richard Ringer has had his all-original, 1976 Dodge Aspen R/T for a year.

Ringer calls the former owner, Carl Gerber, whom he credits for the show wins, on the phone to let him know how they are doing.

Ringer, who lived in Germansville on a farm for 30 years, has all the original paperwork and the 17 trophies and six plaques the car won under Gerber’s ownership.

Terry and Charlann Warmkessel of Kutztown were exhibiting a 1971 Pontiac LeMans and a 1964 Corvette which they have had for three years. They left a 1964 Chevelle at home.

They started with a 1931 Ford Model A which they bought on 9/11.

They were at a notary completing the paperwork for the car at the time of the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center.

“I enjoy working on them but don’t know enough to do it myself,” Terry said.

Ken Irvine Jr. brought his 1986 Tiffany with 18,000 original miles on it to the car show.

A friend in Allentown had owned the car.

Irvine said the car, built in Florida, makes a statement when he takes it out on the roads.

His sister, Joan Irvine said she would blow the horns but they are too loud.

Irvine has three cars but wanted something “low profile,” he said with a smile.

Though he has three now, over the years he had at least 20.

Bryan Henn has owned his 1961 Ford Econoline van for three years.

He will be taking the van to the Van Nationals in Ohio next week.

The Nationals are in a different state every year and this is the closest it has been to Pennsylvania.

Henn has been getting it ready for the long trip so he is sure the van makes it to Ohio.

He also has a 65 GTO and his wife, Diana, has a 1968 Tempest convertible and a 1967 LeMans.

The couple met when he was driving a 1973 Pontiac LeMans sports coupe.

“That was how we hooked up,” he said.
