No quorum, no votes

Due to a lack of a quorum at the Northwestern Recreation Commission’s June meeting, various items are expected to be voted on retroactively in July.

Mountainview Bible Church requested use of the pavilion from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. July 30.

And, a 19-plus softball team requested use of Field 7 on July 9, 16, 23, 30, and Aug. 6 and 27.

Donations for the Chinese auction and other uses are coming in for the annual Night in the Country celebration, reported Kathy Hermany.

Exeter Orthodontics provided $300 as did Keller Funeral Homes and $500 was received from Lynn Township, Nestle Waters, New Tripoli Bank, DJI Insurance and New Tripoli Plaza/Shell.

She noted donations are still coming in.

Four light towers are expected to be provided by Powerco Inc. and four from Ransome Rents for the event.

Waste Management provided a 20-yard Dumpster and Lynn-acres is providing the cow for the ever-popular cow flop bingo. Forty-three persons and organizations have donated as of June 23.

There are 19 activities signed up for and 30 food vendors.

All volunteer groups are returning for such things as the cleanup and Chinese auction.

The firefighters will again have their games and competition.

Jim Hughes thanked Lynn Township Roadmaster Bruce Raber for taking care of the recreation commission park grounds while he was out of town and David Werley of Werley Electric for repairs to the backstop.

Frank Chukoskie was there representing the Northwestern Youth Athletic Association. The policy concerning clinics and camps taking place on the recreation fields was discussed.

Recreation commission Vice President Justin Smith said the policy called for a request from the particular sport director.

“We just want to be sure who is applying,” he said.

Smith said it is the commission’s intention to approve requests.

Chukoskie said the written request will just make it more formal.
