Twenty-one members attended the Crime Watch Neighbors Are Reporting Crime meeting at Greenawalds Fire Company on June 20.
South Whitehall Township Police Patrolman Jason Grozier conducted the meeting.
He reported during the May Crime Report that seven shoplifting incidents at Target resulted in the seven suspects being arrested.
Grozier announced that six new officers are being hired by South Whitehall Police Department.
Reports of fraud and scams are very high presently, he said.
He suggested not to say “yes” to telemarketing calls, because the caller could use the word to gain access to credit cards.
In addition, calls are purportedly being made by the IRS.
Grozier told members the IRS does not call.
They were also advised not to let strangers enter their home without appropriate identification.
National Night Out in South Whitehall is scheduled for Aug. 1.
The next Crime Watch Group meeting is scheduled for July 8.
This will be the last meeting until September.
