Plans advance for renovations at Lehigh Elementary School
Plans for renovations at Lehigh Elementary School are underway.
D’Huy Engineering Inc., consulting engineering firm for Northampton Area School District, will look at access and egress to Lehigh Elementary School, 800 Blue Mountain Drive, Walnutport (Lehigh Township), as well as the building’s space allocation; heating, ventilation and air conditioning system; windows; plumbing; and sewage system.
The NASD Board of Education approved a $35,000 contract for resident project engineering services with D’Huy Engineering Inc., Bethlehem.
School Director Dr. Michael Baird made the motion, seconded by school board Vice President Chuck Frantz, to vote on the contract, approved unanimously 9-0 by school directors.
In other business at the May 22 meeting, school directors voted 9-0 to approve:
Matthew Sawarynski as school board treasurer for the term July 1 through June 30, 2018;
KtO Keystone prep instructors and their reimbursements, April through August, at no cost to NASD: Lauren Belowich, algebra I, $50.15 per hour; Bernadette Rabel, biology, $50.15 per hour; Matthew Greenplate, algebra I, $50.15 per hour; Lindsey Santanasto, English literature, $45.69 per hour; and Genevieve Wilde, biology, $50.15 per hour;
Elementary teachers as supplies coordinators for the 2016-17 school year at a stipend of $517 each: Robert Lawlor, George Wolf Elementary School; Karen Paterick, Lehigh Elementary School; and Ann Haldaman-Dremock, Moore Elementary School;
Listing of head coaches and assistant coaches with their designated payments, effective July 1, 2017, through June 30, 2018, for the appropriate sport season;
Contract with the confidential employees, July 1 through June 30, 2021;
Security guard employees to work at Northampton Area High School and Northampton Area Middle School during summer 2017;
Voluntary transfer of Edward Schoeneberger from middle shift custodian at NAHS to middle shift custodian at NAMS, effective July 5, with no change in base salary;
The Kuehn family to attend the Pennsylvania Department of Education Title I State Parent Conference, Seven Springs, July 10-12, at a cost not to exceed $1,149, covered through Title I Parent Involvement funds with no cost to NASD;
The 2017-18 property tax reduction allocation at $1,467,218.79 to reduce property taxes and set the homestead-farmstead exclusion at the same fixed amount; and
Authorization of the administration to pay final invoices applicable to the 2016-17 budget and to make necessary budget transfers to close the fiscal year in conjunction with Gorman and Associates, P.C., the district’s independent auditor.
