STEVENSON UNIVERSITY

Matthew Patti, formerly of Whitehall, finished the spring 2017 semester at Stevenson University, Maryland, with a 4.0 GPA. He has earned dean’s list 2015-17.

A film and moving image major, Patti also was inducted into “Who’s Who Among Students” for the 2016-17 school year.

DESALES UNIVERSITY

Taylor Augustine, of Catasauqua, earned a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing at DeSales University during a commencement ceremony May 20.

She is a 2012 graduate of Catasauqua High School.

ESU

A total of 1,591 students have been named to the dean’s list at East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania (ESU) for the spring 2017 semester of the 2016-17 academic year, according to Joanne Bruno, J.D., provost and vice president for academic affairs. Students eligible for the dean’s list are those who have attained a 3.50 quality-point average or better and are enrolled full time. The letter grade “B” earns three quality points per credit, and the grade “A” earns four quality points per credit.

Emerson College

Tyler Stoudt, of Whitehall, graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in directing narrative fiction at Emerson College’s 137th commencement ceremony, held May 14.

Approximately 975 bachelor’s degrees were conferred during the undergraduate exercises and nearly 270 master’s degrees were conferred during the graduate exercises.

Based in Boston, Mass., opposite the historic Boston Common and in the heart of the city’s theater district, Emerson College educates individuals who will solve problems and change the world through engaged leadership in the liberal arts, communication and the arts. The college has approximately 3,500 undergraduates and 670 graduate students from across the United States and 50 countries.

University of Scranton

Local residents were among more than 1,600 students who were named to The University of Scranton’s dean’s list for the 2017 spring semester. The dean’s list recognizes students for academic excellence. A student must have a GPA of 3.5 or better with a minimum number of credit hours during the semester to make this qualification.

Foyinsi Adegbonmire, of Whitehall, excelled during the spring 2017 semester, achieving a GPA of at least 3.5 to earn a spot on the dean’s list.

Widener University

Widener University conferred degrees during its ceremony for undergraduates May 20. Commencement was held on Memorial Field at the university.

Alumnus Steven Gillon, a member of the Class of 1978, gave the commencement address. Gillon is scholar-in-residence at The History Channel and professor of history at the University of Oklahoma. The university presented him with a Doctor of Humane Letters honorary degree.
