Western Salisbury Elementary’s third annual Color Run and Spring Fling drew a large crowd of children and adults recently.
Hosting a plethora of activities for the children to enjoy, the event serves as a give back to students and their families for all of their support over the school year. And, for the first time, students from Harry S Truman Elementary School joined in on the fun.
The biggest draw of the event – the color run – began promptly 6:30 p.m. with students and their parents running (or walking) from the starting point of WSE’s basketball fields.
The runners followed a lengthy course around Salisbury Middle School’s baseball and soccer fields, while being pelted with colorful powder at various points along the way.
By the time the finish line was crossed, runners had various neon hues of green, pink, yellow and blue on their clothes and big smiles on their faces.
But the color run was only the start of the fun. A variety of activities awaited the families upon their return to WSE’s playground.
While a DJ blasted family-friendly hits, students lined up to take a trip down the water slide, investigate a fire engine from Western Salisbury Fire Department, make a balloon animal or knock someone into a tub of water in the dunk tank.
Dinner of hot dogs and pizza also was served in the gymnasium.
The festivities served as a fun-filled cap on not only the school week, but also as a preamble to the fast-approaching summer for all who attended.
