The Emmaus Moravian Church will celebrate its 270th anniversary with several community events during July. At 7 p.m. July 24, The Emmaus Historical Society’s “Our Moravian Settlers” program will be presented by Bill Barto at the Emmaus Public Library. On July 29, the Emmaus Moravian Church, 146 Main St., will hold an open house 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. God’s Acre at the foot of South Third Street will be open for tours 10 a.m. to noon. There will be a dawn worship service at God’s Acre 7:30 a.m. July 30. The church will hold a worship service Lovefeast 9:30 a.m. July 30. And, in honor of the 270th anniversary, the church will hold a community Lovefeast 6 p.m. July 30 at Emmaus Community Park, Shimerville Road. The program will include a concert by the church’s choir, brass choir, Main Street Connection Band and a sing-along. The Emmaus Historical Society museum, 218 Main St., will be open for tours noon to 4 p.m. July 29. The museum is regularly open noon to 4 p.m. Saturdays and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sundays. The society is sponsoring several fundraisers during the summer. Stock up on vegetable beef or potato soup by ordering during the Sept. 20 soup sale. The deadline to order is Aug. 30 and pick up is 4 to 8 p.m. Sept. 20 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Fifth and Chestnut streets. Order by calling 610-966-6591 or visit the museum during weekend hours. The society is also selling streak-less microfiber cloths. The society is sponsoring a bus trip to American Music Theater in Lancaster to see the 3 p.m. Aug. 22 Vegas Legends matinee. Reminder: Final bids for the Emmaus Arts Commission’s CHAIRity Art Auction of artistically decorated chairs is 1 p.m. July 16 at the Emmaus Farmers Market. The chairs have been and continue to be on display at the farmers market and other venues in the borough. For information, visit emmausarts.org. Emmaus Borough Council meets 7 p.m. July 17. The borough offices will be closed July 4 for the holiday. Reminder: Refuse/recycling should be put out July 5 for pick up early morning of July 6 due to the holiday.

The Emmaus Community Park pool is open daily noon to 8 p.m. Aqua Zumba is offered 6:30 p.m. every Monday and Wednesday. There is an admission charge. For pool information, call 610-928-1130 during pool operating hours.

The July schedule for concerts in the park are July 2: Macungie Band; July 9: Charlie Brown’s Notorious Grove; July 16: The Large Flowerheads; July 23: Dueling Pianos and July 30 is the Moravian Church concert in conjunction with the Lovefeast.

Movies under the Stars will be held July 28 beginning at sundown at the community park. The feature will be “Sing.”

The program for the Emmaus Garden Club’s July 11 meeting is “Landscaping with Edible Plants” presented by Dr. Joseph Colosi. The group meets noon with the program beginning 12:30 p.m. at Faith Presbyterian Church, North Second and Cherokee streets.

The Emmaus Farmers Market is held 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. every Sunday in the BB&T parking lot, 235 Main St. The market offers more than two dozen vendors. There is also musical entertainment and community booths weekly. On June 25, Erin Lawler of Juice Plus+ will be at the market 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. She will host “Sunshine in Your Garden,” a fun scavenger hunt for children. The hunt will be followed up by a fun garden project at the market tent.

Wear your American pride 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. July 2 at the market when the Emmaus Public Singing Society will entertain. July 16 the market will feature representatives from the Animal Food Bank of the Lehigh Valley. The Angela Evans Duo will perform July 23 and Tom and Betty Drunkenmiller will play July 30. The summer reading club, “Build a Better World,” continues with events, programs and fun at the Emmaus Library, 11 E. Main St. After one week of registration, 133 adults, 44 teens and 183 youngsters are signed up.

The library recently installed free library book bins near the concession stand at the Emmaus Community Pool. The concept is simple – take a book or leave a book. The bins will be restocked on a weekly basis. There is no need to return the book if you take it. The librarians hope you will share the book with a friend or return it to give someone else a chance to enjoy.

New youth programs offered during July include Lehigh Valley Therapy Dog obedience demonstration, 6:30 p.m. July 11; Teen Coding presented by the DaVinci Science Center for teens 2 p.m. July 13 (registration required); FanFic Workshop, 7 p.m. July 13 (registration required); Teen Create 4 p.m. July 19 (registration required) and Harry Potter Magic Show and Teaching Workshop with Kyle & Kelly, 7 p.m. July 31. The family film matinee will be shown 2 p.m. July 1 and the Monday Morning movies will be shown 10:30 a.m. Mondays.

The adult daytime book group meets 2 p.m. July 11. Continuing programs are adult basic computer classes, knitting group, Pinterest Party and memoir writing group. New programs offered in July are Beekeeping 101, 11 a.m. July 15, Sgraffito 7 p.m. July 17 and Solar City, 10:05 a.m. July 22. The adult movie night is 6:30 p.m. July 25 and the movie matinee is 1 p.m. July 27.

The mobile office for state Sen. Lisa Boscola, D-18th, will be at the library 10 a.m. July 31.

The library will be closed July 4 for the holiday.

The Emmaus Commemorative Gardens Foundation will hold its annual bricks installation to honor community heroes Sept. 7.
