Camp Jefferson: Kids show competitive spirit at Planet Trog
Camp Jefferson started the 2017 summer off on a great note!
The first week of camp was jam packed with sports, games and fun at the pool.
With so many new faces, Monday started off with some free time. The campers enjoyed getting to know the new counselors, and the counselors enjoyed catching up with all the campers. During free time, everyone joined in the fun! Campers made up their own interesting games or participated in many intense rounds of Four Square. The day continued with many of the campers’ favorite games - Kickball, Dodgeball, Man Hunt, Fastest in the West and Silent Ball. In the afternoon, the campers enjoyed cooling off in the pool.
Tuesday was full of more fun and games - it was field trip day at Camp Jefferson! The campers traveled to Planet Trog, where they enjoyed pizza, arcade games and several rounds of Laser Tag. The creative campers each developed a tag code name. Some memorable names were Thing 1, Thing 2, Awesome and Phantom. The campers’ competitive nature came out as Team City battled Team Desert. Energy was at an all-time high! Not only were the campers competitive, but they also showed great amounts of team spirit.
On Wednesday, the campers were back playing more favorite games, starting with Knock Out and basketball. When the day became too hot, everyone enjoyed cooling off inside with Cops and Robbers, Jump the River and Ship Captain.
Wednesday was craft day at Camp Jefferson. The campers got their hands dirty mixing glue, food coloring and glitter to create some “ooey-gooey” slime.
Thursday was filled with more games like Jail Break, Elbow Tag and Capture the Flag. The campers also enjoyed a full afternoon playing at the pool.
Camp Jefferson ended the week with a splash. The campers played their favorite pool game, Water Polo! Everyone was cheering on their teammates, working to score some extra goals. The lifeguards and counselors even joined in on the fun.
Our Campers of the Week were Emma R. and Jacob K.
Great first week, campers! Jefferson counselors can’t wait for week two to get here.
