Weisenberg board deals with various issues

Weisenberg Township supervisors learned at their June 12 meeting that improvements to the junkyard at the Lick site are progressing.

Drums and tires are being removed and the engines and transmissions are being covered.

Township Administrator Brian Carl recommended that the yearly permit be issued.

In other matters, the road swap between the township and PennDOT was on the agenda.

PennDOT will not give up Mill Creek Road but will cede Kecks Road to the township.

Kecks Road runs from Old 22 to Seipstown Road.

A resolution on the agreement was adopted by the board.

Solicitor Don Lipson said the noise ordinance could have its first reading but supervisors decided to table the matter until next month.

Resident Gerald Rusinko asked the board to review its property maintenance ordinance.

He is concerned about certain properties along Route 863 that have junk on the premises.

Weisenberg Township volunteer firefighters responded to 72 calls as of the meeting date.

A hoagie sale fundraiser is currently being held by the fire company with orders taken until June 27.

Two firefighters have just completed Fire One class.

Treasurer Jeff Strauss reported he has a bill he will not pay.

Morton Salt Company sent a bill for $4,000 for salt that Roadmaster Tony Werley stated was never received.

Supervisor Linda Gorgas requested an interpretation of the home occupation definition and what it included.

Lipson gave his opinion of what the definition could include and what the parameters are.

Carl informed the board that three of the soccer fields are under construction with the fourth being started shortly.

Linda Beitler was appointed to be part-time help in the township office.
