UPPER MILFORD TOWNSHIP
A revised plan for the development of the Kohler property in Upper Milford does not meet the township’s expectations, supervisors agreed at the June 15 meeting.
Solicitor Marc Fisher said the pre-development agreement which supervisors accepted in January showed 2.7 acres of recreation land in the residential development, plus 19 parking spaces for that land. The new plan, he said, has “whittled away the area of the park” to 2.1 acres.
There is now less than the 2.5 acres which are required and no parking spaces. Fisher said that’s “just one of several deficiencies in the plan.”
Supervisors directed Fisher to write to Kay Builders, the developer, stating the revised plan doesn’t meet their intent.
In other action, supervisors directed staff to come up with an ordinance which would implement a state law allowing the township to give emergency personnel a tax credit.
Supervisor Robert Sentner said “I’m all for it” but details as to who would be eligible need to be worked out. He asked whether the law would allow the township to offer the tax credit to members of the fire company ladies’ auxiliaries, many of whom put in countless hours, and was told they can benefit.
Supervisors Chairman George DeVault also supported the concept, saying “It’s the least we can do to thank our volunteers.”
Township Manager Daniel DeLong said the credit, which would be on either real estate or earned income taxes, would only apply to township residents.
Fisher noted supervisors who are also emergency personnel could not take advantage of the credit if they vote for it during their term.
In other business, DeLong announced the township has signed the yearly contract with Service Electric Cable TV to provide cable service to the township. He noted that under the contract, the company pays the township $118,000 this year.
