Upper Macungie Township will be showing the movie “Pete’s Dragon” June 9 at Lone Lane Park, 30 Lone Lane. Activities start at 7 p.m.

Junior golf will be offered by The First Tee of Lehigh Valley for children 9 a.m. to noon Mondays and Wednesdays at Independent Park, 150 Independent Road, Breinigsville.

Session 1 runs from June 19 to July 12. Session 2 will run July 17 to Aug. 9.

Children will be offered life skills experience, teaching the unique nine core values: honesty, integrity, sportsmanship, respect, responsibility, perseverance, courtesy and judgment through this program.

The township is also accepting applications for its 2017 Junior Emergency Services Academy.

The academy will take place 9 a.m.-3 p.m. July 17-21 at the Upper Macungie Station 56.

Enrollees must be township residents who are 12 to 16 years old by July 17. Class sizes are limited.

Parkland Community Library, 4422 Walbert Ave., South Whitehall Township, is hosting a block party for kids ages 2 and older with an adult 6 p.m. June 10.

Come and play with the library’s new block collection.

Kids in sixth through 12 grade can create their own candy sushi at the library’s Teen meeting 6:30-7:30 p.m. June 15.

The library will host “Games We Love” from 1-2:30 p.m. June 16.

Have fun playing bridge, pinochle, canasta or chess.

Library staff will be showing the movie “The Big Sleep” at its Brown Bag Classics at 1 p.m. June 19.

Bring lunch. The library will provide the beverages.

The Friends of the Library’s porch book sale will take place 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. June 19.

Zion’s Union Church Maxatawny, 329 Church Road, Kutztown, will have its annual strawberry and ice cream festival 6-9 p.m. June 9. Entertainment will be by Paul and Mary Good.

Help is needed Friday afternoon to clean strawberries and at the festival to serve food, bus tables, help in the kitchen and clean up at 9 p.m.

Donations of vegetable soup and baked goods are needed. There will be a Chinese auction.

The Junior Youth Group at Ziegels Union Church, 9990 Ziegels Church Road, Breinigsville, will host a cookout for dads, uncles, grandpas and their boys from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. June 10.

The event will include the cookout and some dads vs kids games.
