UPPER AND LOWER MILFORD COLUMN
The Lower Milford Fire Company carnival will take place June 14 to 17. This is the company’s most important fundraiser of the year, so bring the family and enjoy a silent auction, live music, rides, games, fireworks and more.
The grounds, on Limeport Pike, will be open 6 p.m. nightly, and music and rides start 7 p.m.
Otto’s Amusements provides the Midway. This year’s bands are: Wednesday: Michael James Group; Thursday: Bootleg Express; Friday: Uncle Smiley and Saturday: Jean and American Dream.

On June 24, Upper Milford Western District Fire Co. #1 (on Route 100) will have a chicken barbecue dinner. Eat in or take out 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The dinner includes: one-half chicken (Kauffman’s chicken), baked potato, applesauce, roll and butter. St. Joseph’s Church in Limeport will hold its summer festival noon to 7 p.m. June 25 with lots of fun for the whole family.
On June 10 Old Zionsville UCC is holding a community yard sale, rain or shine, 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the church, 5981 Fountain Road (at the intersection of Kings Highway and Fountain Road), Old Zionsville. For space information, call 610-966-3601. There will be great finds for kids moving out to college.
On the same day/same place, a textile recycling truck will be in the church parking lot to receive all your textiles for recycling. They must be clean and bagged, but can be ripped and stained.
On June 25, all are welcome to the 71st Dillingersville School Celebration at 7226 Schoolhouse Lane, Zionsville, under the tent. Bring your lawn chairs.
The celebration begins with 10:30 a.m. worship with brass, combined choirs and Agape Singers reunion choir, followed by a barbecue lunch 11:30 a.m. for a donation, plus a bake sale. Free entertainment 12:30 p.m. features Jeff Krick presents: Elvis! The Gospel Hour. For information, call 610-966-3601. The rain location is Old Zionsville UCC.
Upper Milford Township is currently looking for three volunteers from the community, who have no affiliation with current emergency services in this area, to serve on the recently created emergency services committee. This committee will meet approximately four times a year or as needed. Contact info@uppermilford.net if you would like further information.
The quarterly meeting of the Hivel Und Dahl Preservation Society will be held 7 p.m. June 27 in the Upper Milford Township building, 5671 Chestnut St., Old Zionsville. After a short business meeting, Larry Roeder will give a talk about the 117-year history of the Town and Country Newspaper. Refreshments will be served. Guests are always welcome. The Upper Milford Historical Society meets 7 p.m. June 29 at the Upper Milford Township building. Professional engineer Gordon Baker will tell the story of the Bethlehem Steel Corp. and its last 20 years of building bridges and other structures. The July meeting, the annual picnic, will be held 6 p.m. July 27.

The Vera Cruz Community Association meets 7:30 p.m. June 8 at the Citizens Fire Company Social Hall, 4093 Main Road West, Emmaus.
The Upper Milford Fire Company’s ladies auxiliary meets 7 p.m. the first Monday of the month. New members are always welcome.
Vera Cruz senior citizens meet 1 p.m. June 15 at the Vera Cruz Fire Company. All are welcome.
The Lower Milford Township road crew will be working on Buhman Road between West Mill Hill and Schultz Bridge Road through mid-June, depending on weather conditions. New drainage pipe will be installed and the road will be graded. Some delays may occur; please drive cautiously in this area and keep the crews safe.
Lower Milford Township supervisors meet the first and third Thursday of the month, beginning 7:30 p.m. The first meeting, June 1, was a workshop and the second meeting, June 15, is the regular business meeting.
Other Lower Milford meetings are as follows; unless otherwise noted, they will begin 7:30 p.m.: the planning commission meets the first Monday of the month, which this month was June 5; recreation and open space board, June 14; historical commission, June 13.
Upper Milford supervisors will meet 7 p.m. June 15.
The Upper Milford Recreation Commission meets 7:30 p.m. June 19.
The Upper Milford Planning Commission meets 7:30 p.m. the Monday prior to the first Thursday of every month unless that is a holiday.
The Joint Environmental Advisory Council meets 7 p.m. the fourth Monday of the month and alternates between Emmaus borough council chambers, 28 S. Fourth St. and the Upper Milford Township building. They will meet in Emmaus June 26.
