Moravian College held commencement exercises May 13 in Johnston Hall on the Main Street campus. The ceremony concluded the 275th academic year at Moravian. Moravian College President Bryon L. Grigsby, Class of 1990, conferred degrees to approximately 460 bachelor’s degree candidates and 62 graduate degree candidates.

Emerson College
Tyler Stoudt, of Whitehall, was named to Emerson College dean’s list for the spring 2017 semester. Stoudt is majoring in directing narrative fiction. The requirement to make dean’s list is a GPA of 3.7 or higher.

King’s College
King’s College, Wilkes-Barre, held its 68th commencement exercises May 21.
Tyler L. Cruz, of Whitehall, received his Bachelor of Arts in criminal justice.
Hamilton College
Hamilton College awarded 508 diplomas during its commencement May 21, concluding the college’s 205th year. Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker delivered the commencement address. Codi C. Reynolds, daughter of Linda and Herman Reynolds, of Whitehall, received a Bachelor of Arts. An Asian studies and comparative literature major, Reynolds graduated with departmental honors in Asian studies and comparative literature and now joins an alumni body of more than 22,000, many of whom have made important contributions to business, the professions, government and the arts.
Originally founded in 1793 as the Hamilton-Oneida Academy, Hamilton College occupies a 1,350-acre hilltop campus overlooking the New England-style Village of Clinton, N.Y., and in close proximity to the Adirondack Park. The college’s open curriculum gives students the freedom to shape their own liberal arts education within a research- and writing-intensive framework. Hamilton enrolls 1,850 students from 49 states and 49 countries.
Pennsylvania College of Technology
Penn College held three commencement ceremonies May 12-13 at the community arts center, Williamsport. Penn College is a special mission affiliate of The Pennsylvania State University.
Garrett Hillenbrand, of Whitehall, received his Bachelor of Science in construction management. He received cum laude recognition.
University of Scranton
Matthew Collier, of Whitehall, was among other University of Scranton students inducted into the student honor society of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE) - Eta Kappa Nu. Collier is a senior majoring in electrical engineering at the Jesuit university. Student members are selected for induction on the basis of scholastic standing, character and leadership. The university’s chapter of the international honor society was established in 2012.
Lehigh University
Matthew Bonshak, of Whitehall, received Lehigh University’s James J. Duane III Student Life Leadership Award during the spring 2017 semester. The leadership award is given to seniors in recognition of extraordinary performance as a student leader at Lehigh University. The following areas are used as a basis for evaluating outstanding performance: overall impact on Lehigh students, program development and implementation and bridging cultural differences and student governance by taking a role to improve student, faculty and staff interactions.

University of Scranton
Ann Marie Marzen, of Whitehall, was among other University of Scranton students inducted into the international honor society of nursing - Sigma Theta Tau. Marzen is a senior majoring in nursing at the Jesuit university. For induction into the honor society, students must have completed one half of the nursing curriculum, demonstrated ability in nursing, have a GPA of 3.0 and rank in the upper one-third of the class. The honor society was founded in 1922.
