Freddys: Emmaus, 7; Parkland, 5; LV high school musicals dominate

Emmaus High School’s production of “Miss Saigon (School Edition)” received seven Freddy Awards to lead nominees in the 2017 Freddy Awards for high school musicals productions.

Parkland High School’s production of ”Pippin” received five Freddy Awards, the next most number of Freddys.

Bethlehem Catholic High School’s “Oklahoma!” received two Freddy awards.

Receiving one Freddy Award each: William Allen High School’s “Bonnie & Clyde”; Dieruff High School’s “Jesus Christ Superstar”; Liberty High School; Hackettstown High School’s “42nd Street”; Whitehall High School’s “Monty Python’s Spamalot”; Saucon Valley High School; Northern Lehigh’s “Disney’s Beauty and the Beast”; Southern Lehigh High School; Notre Dame High School, “Curtains,” and Moravian Academy, “Urinetown.”

Twenty-nine schools from Lehigh and Northampton counties and Warren County, N.J., participated in the 2017 Freddy Awards.

The 2017 Freddy Awards were presented May 25 during the 15th annual ceremony at the State Theatre for the Arts, Easton, broadcast on WFMZ Channel 69 and wfmz.com.

The 2017 Freddy Awards show will be re-broadcast at 7 p.m. June 3 on WFMZ-TV.
