Fire chief seeks tax rebate support

New Tripoli Fire Chief Peter Christ reported to Lynn Township supervisors at their May meeting that fire company representatives met with state Sen. Pat Browne, R-16th, about funding for the building renovations.

Firefighters will host a chicken barbecue for Father’s Day and a hoagie sale in July.

Christ also noted the fire company has received 68 calls so far this year.

The fire company is looking for support on the proposed tax rebate for firefighters.

A four-township ordinance is proposed.

Supervisors’ Chairman Justin Smith asked if the school is supporting the measure and if all parties are in favor.

Supervisor Brian Dietrich stated there should be an analysis of the proposal to see how it affects the tax balance.

Christ requested the board waive the permit fees for the construction of the entrance and sidewalk at the fire station.

Supervisor Steve Feinour made a motion to waive all permit fees related to construction at the fire company.

The motion was passed.

Lynnport Fire Company reported firefighters had one call in April with 16 total for the year.

The road crew was busy in April.

Roadmaster Bruce Raber reported the dirt roads were finished, shoulders were cut, some roads were swept and signs were replaced and repaired.

Work was done at the recycling center and the crew aided neighboring townships with road projects.

Contracts were signed for the Crazy Horse concert on June 11 and the Flowerheads concert on Sept. 24.

Solicitor Mark Fisher and township engineer Chris Noll advised supervisors they have put together an ordinance relating to the mini cell towers.

The board will review this for the next meeting.

Supervisors adopted a resolution to amend the township fee schedule to add a $2 recycling fee.

The ninth annual car and motorcycle show will be 1- 4 p.m. July 9 in Ontelaunee Park.

Disc Jockey Jesse White will be providing music.
