Gockley’s first-grade Springfest will be held 9:50 a.m. June 2 in the school cafeteria. The music teacher, Mr. Reisteter, will be directing the program. Each first-grade class will perform one song.

First-grade parents are invited to attend the performance. Please park in the high school football field parking lot and enter through the side gym door.

Want to sign up for Creation Station camp? Creation Station, a four-day learning experience for students entering grades 5 through 8 in the Whitehall-Coplay School District, is a science, technology, engineering, art and math camp being held this summer. Students will discover, engage, collaborate, tinker, design and create through a multitude of STEAM-based Makerspace activities.

The camp will be held at the middle school 8:30-11:30 a.m. July 10-13. The cost is $35 per student. Space is limited, so register early. Email Mr. Pangaio at pangaiot@whitehallcoplay.org or Mr. Stauffer at staufferd@whitehallcoplay.org.

Forms must be returned by June 1. A confirmation email will be sent before July 1.

Sign-ups for Camp Whitehall, a summer day camp for children residing in the Whitehall-Coplay School District, began May 1. The camp is for children who have completed kindergarten through eighth grade, with a minimum age of 5 and a maximum age of 15.

The first day of school for the 2017-18 school year will be Aug. 28. It is very important students begin the school year on time to learn classroom orientation and routines. Parents and guardians are asked to consider this when making vacation arrangements.

Parents and guardians may begin the process for kindergarten registration. Access and complete the online registration by logging on to the district website, whitehallcoplay.org. Select a date and time to meet with the enrollment secretary, Mrs. Michelle Khouri, to present all the required documentation.

To complete the registration, parents and guardians will be given an appointment to bring your child to meet with the guidance counselor or principal, school nurse, ESOL teacher and reading specialist for a brief assessment at Gockley.

Your child must be 5 years old before Sept. 1, 2017.
