The Emmaus Recreation and Entertainment Commission will host its annual Community Day and Kickoff to Summer event noon to 6 p.m. June 4 at Emmaus Community Park. The event, which is free to the public, will feature food, information from community organizations, crafts, demonstrations, pony rides and music. The summer concert series kicks off with a concert by Inch and the Echoes 3 to 6 p.m.

New this year will be a Kairos Promotions Community Carnival with amusement rides, games, entertainment and carnival foods that will coincide with Community Day June 4. The carnival will be held June 2, 3 and 4. Hours are 5 to 9 p.m. June 2 and 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. June 3 and 4.

Emmaus has hosted summer concerts in the park for 38 years. The concerts are held in the Community Arts Pavilion, 1401 Shimersville Road. Summer concerts during June are June 11: James Supra Band with Sarah Ayers, 5 to 8 p.m.; June 25: Tommy Zita, 5 to 8 p.m. There will be no concert June 18 Father’s Day. Zumba will be offered 9 a.m. every Saturday at the Arts Pavilion. Aqua Zumba will be offered Mondays and Wednesdays June through August at the community pool. There is a fee to enter the pool.

Movies Under the Stars will be held 8 p.m. June 23. The movie will be “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.”

The community pool will open noon to 8 p.m. May 27, 28 and 29. It will reopen noon to 8 p.m. June 3 and 4 and then open for the season noon to 8 p.m. June 10 to Aug. 27. Swim lessons will be offered in July. For pool information during operating hours, call 610-928-1130.

The annual Memorial Day parade will begin 9 a.m. May 29 from the Emmaus High School parking lot to Chestnut Street and end at the Memorial Triangle, where Third and Fourth streets converge. In case of inclement weather, the program will be held at the high school auditorium 9:30 a.m.

The Emmaus Commemorative Gardens Foundation will install 35 bricks in the Veteran’s Walkway 1 p.m. May 28 at the Emmaus Remembrance Garden, 164 E. Main St. This ceremony is a combined effort of the Emmaus Veteran’s Committee and the Commemorative Gardens Foundation. The Memorial Day weekend program includes a special rifle salute and taps, a guitar performance and messages from several dignitaries. Bring out your no longer used treasures to sell during Emmaus Community Yard Sale 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 3. No permit is required. The rain date is June 4.

The Kiwanis Club of Emmaus will host its 44th annual Pancake Festival 8 a.m. to noon June 4 at Emaus Fire Co. #1, 50 S. Sixth St. The all-you-can-eat festival includes guest appearances, raffles, face painting and more. There is a ticket price for adults; children under 10 eat free. The Summer Reading Club at the Emmaus Public Library runs June 12 through Aug. 19. The theme is “Build a Better World.” The kickoff party, “Building Better Communities with Music,” will be held 7 p.m. June 19. Miss Daria will demonstrate how music can bring us together.

Lehigh County Conservation District’s Miss Jolie will present a program, “Buckets Full of Nature,” 10:30 a.m. June 20 at the library. She will bring the outdoors inside during fun-filled classes on nature, science and exploration.

Karen Maurer of the Lehigh Valley Storytellers’ Guild will present a teen storytelling workshop for students in grades six through 12 at the library. The library will host a workshop for students in grades six through 12 to learn about textiles and learn about quilting. Each participant will design a T-shirt to take home and design a lap quilt to be donated to the senior center. Pre-registration is required.

The library is offering several films in June. The family film matinee will be shown 2 p.m. June 3. A film in the teen film series will be shown 6:30 p.m. June 29 (PG-13). The program for Emmaus Garden Club’s June 6 meeting is “The Growth of Our Garden,” presented by Dr. Robert Stamper. The group meets noon with the program beginning 12:30 p.m. at Faith Presbyterian Church, North Second and Cherokee streets.

The Emmaus Woman’s Club will hold a round robin card luncheon May 24 at Brookside Country Club. The club’s final meeting before its summer hiatus will be the celebration and honoring of the club’s scholarship recipient at a June 7 luncheon at the Cottage at Louie’s Bakery. The Emmaus Arts Commission is promoting a new fundraiser, the CHAIRity Art Auction. The project features 15 unique chairs, locally sourced and artistically reinterpreted by local artists. Chairs come in all shapes and sizes. The chairs will be displayed June 4 and 18, July 2 and 16 at the Emmaus Farmers Market and available for bidding. The final bids must be placed by 1 p.m. July 16.
