Former South Whitehall Township and Lehigh County Commissioner Brad Osborne, a Republican, garnered an unofficial 56 percent of the vote to Glenn Eckhart’s unofficial 44 percent of the vote to face Democrat Phillips Armstrong in the November general election for Lehigh County executive.

According to unofficial Lehigh County Voter Registration numbers, Osborne received 6,326 votes to Eckhart’s 4,940 votes.

Armstrong, who ran unchallenged, received an unofficial 11,479 votes on the Democratic side of the ballot.

During his campaign, Osborne said the election was about the candidate most prepared to lead Lehigh County into the future.

“The citizens of Lehigh County deserve an executive with a proven record of significant results both in the private and public sectors to manage this level of responsibility,” Osborne said. “My business management experience and public service leadership positions me to provide innovation, accountability and transparency to Lehigh County government.”

As a Lehigh County commissioner, Osborne says he helped cut taxes four of the past five years and returned more than $27 million to the taxpayers of Lehigh County.

“In my years as a commissioner - both in Lehigh County and in South Whitehall Township - I have overseen a dozen budgets without a single tax increase, a record that has earned me the endorsement of Citizens Against Higher Taxes, the oldest taxpayer advocacy organization in Pennsylvania,” Osborne said during the campaign.
