Whitehall Township police will conduct a “Border to Border” seatbelt enforcement event 4-8 p.m. today.
The township department has partnered with 315 municipal law enforcement agencies in Pennsylvania and 24 other states to send a zero-tolerance message to motorists that driving or riding without a seatbelt will result in a ticket, no matter the state.
To increase safety on Pennsylvania’s roadways, state and municipal police will conduct traffic enforcement zones and roving patrols to identify unbelted occupants in Lehigh County.
The effort is part of a Click It or Ticket seatbelt enforcement mobilization, going on now through June 4.
Last year, the “Border to Border” mobilization had participation from 317 Pennsylvania municipal law enforcement agencies during the four-hour operation. A total of 1,105 citations were issued for seatbelt violations as well as 84 child safety seat violations. An additional 9,102 citations were also issued for other traffic infractions.
