Lowhill Township voters had a choice between two Republican candidates in Tuesday’s Municipal Primary Election as no Democrat was listed on the ballot.

According to unofficial results from Lehigh County Voter Registration, incumbent Supervisor Richard Hughes, garnered 61 percent of the vote to Paul Fisher Jr.’s 39 percent of votes cast.

Hughes received an unofficial 127 votes to Fisher’s unofficial 80 votes.

Hughes, who was first elected supervisor in 1982, will return to his seat on the board barring a successful write-in challenge in the November General Election.

“I want to thank all the voters who believed in me and the board,” Hughes emailed The Press. “Your voices were heard. I’d also like to thank all the people who helped me win.

“Lowhill residents want results, not webinars. We will work hard to fulfill our duties and keep Lowhill a beautiful place to live.”

Fisher emailed The Press following the Primary thanking his supporters and congratulating his opponent.

“I would like thank my supporters, friends and family for their help and encouragement throughout this election,” Fisher wrote.

“While my efforts fell short of the desired outcome, I will continue to advocate for making improvements in local governance and holding elected officials accountable.

“I extend a sincere ‘thank you’ to all the voters, and I congratulate Rick Hughes on his re-election as supervisor.”

Hughes and his wife, Patty, have been married for 37 years. They have a daughter, Tori, and son-in-law, Preston, who both went through the Northwestern Lehigh School system.
