Walter “Butch” R. Smith Jr., 69, of Catasauqua, died May 4, 2017, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was the husband of Patricia (Hodge) Smith of Catasauqua.

Born in Allentown, he was a son of the late Walter R. Sr. and Grace H. (Geiger) Smith.

He worked for 30 years in the blast furnaces and later as a maintenance electrician for Bethlehem Steel. Most recently, he was a delivery driver for Rahn’s Concrete.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Vincent P. Smith and Dylan P. Smith; two daughters, Vicki C. Bartholomew and her husband Mike and Ashley R. Breinig; a sister, Carol Mortimer and her husband Joshua; and four grandchildren, Rikki, Karissa, Kore and Aaron.
