District news: Open houses planned
Zephyr’s open house is scheduled for 6:30-8:30 p.m. tonight, May 18. The annual basket raffle to benefit the Zephyr Relay for Life team will be held at that time.
From 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. May 25, Gockley will hold its open house. There will be many displays and fun activities planned.
Mark your calendar and plan to visit your child’s school.

Second-grade orientation at Steckel for current Gockley first-grade students will take place 5:30-6:30 p.m. May 22.
There will be a 5:30 p.m. meeting in the cafeteria with Steckel’s principal, Mr. Glenn Noack.

The Steckelwood Pops concert will be held 7 p.m. May 23 at Whitehall High School.
Zephyr’s spring concert will be held 7 p.m. May 24, also at the high school.

Gockley’s Coins for a Cure began May 12 and runs through May 30. Students will have the opportunity to help support American Cancer Society’s Race for the Cure. Students were given a small black container to collect loose change.
Thanks for your support for such a worthy cause. Please return your boxes by May 30.

Sign-ups are underway for Camp Whitehall, a summer day camp program for children residing in the Whitehall-Coplay School District. The camp is for children who have completed kindergarten through eighth grade, with a minimum age of 5 and a maximum age of 15.

Want to sign up for Creation Station camp? Creation Station, a four-day learning experience for students entering grades 5 through 8 in the Whitehall-Coplay School District, is a science, technology, engineering, art and math camp being held this summer. Students will discover, engage, collaborate, tinker, design and create through a multitude of STEAM-based Makerspace activities.
The camp will be held at the middle school 8:30-11:30 a.m. July 10-13. The cost is $35 per student. Space is limited, so register early. Email Mr. Pangaio at pangaiot@whitehallcoplay.org or Mr. Stauffer at staufferd@whitehallcoplay.org.
Forms must be returned by June 1. A confirmation email will be sent before July 1.
