Two townships, two candidates unopposed

Linda Gorgas, a Republican, is running unopposed for re-election to a six-year term as Weisenberg Township supervisor.

Gorgas, who has served as supervisor for 18 years, says her goal is to keep the agricultural heritage of the township while controlling growth.

Raised on one of the many farms in the township, Gorgas says she has an appreciation for the rural aspect of the community.

Gorgas says what she likes most about being township supervisor is the interaction with the people.

She wants to try to help the residents when its appropriate and believes it is important for residents to have a say in what goes on in the township.

If there is a problem, she will try to help fix it. However, she states the township cannot correct a problem if it doesn’t know it exists.

Lynn Township supervisor Justin Smith, a Republican, is also running unopposed to return to his seat on the board.

A lifelong resident of the township, he graduated from Northwestern Lehigh High School and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in business management from Albright College.

He is the general manager of Olde Homestead Golf Club, New Tripoli.

In 2008, he spoke at the Fore! Reservations National Conference in Chicago on the “Future of Web Utilization,” and was a social media panelist at the same conference in 2010.

During a previous campaign for supervisor, Smith said he is for property owner’s rights, targeted growth to preserve open space, lower taxes and farmland preservation.
