Lowhill Twp incumbent seeks re-election to board

Lowhill Township voters will need to choose between two Republican candidates in the May 16 Municipal Primary Election as no Democrat is listed on the ballot.

Incumbent Supervisor Richard Hughes, a 1976 graduate of Northwestern Lehigh School, is facing a challenge from Paul C. Fisher Jr.

Hughes, first elected supervisor in 1982, says he has been involved and committed to community service for 40 years.

“Our board works well together,” Hughes said. “We have balanced the budget every year and never raised taxes.

“We don’t borrow money for things we can’t afford.

“We buy good used equipment when needed, added staff and improved services.

We funded plans to improve our buildings, equipment and roads.”

Hughes says he promotes farmland preservation and makes sure developers who seek variances to circumvent township ordinances follow the rules.

“I want to keep Lowhill Township rural with all its beauty, and a safe place to raise a family,” Hughes says. “Lowhill Township deserves an experienced leader, one who knows township government and has the experience needed to get things done.”

Hughes and his wife, Patty, have been married for 37 years. They are the third generation to live on the family farm.

They have a daughter, Tori, and son-in-law, Preston, who both went through the Northwestern Lehigh School system.
