Adaptive Fishing

GOOD SHEPHERD:

Good Shepherd Rehabilitation and Leaser Lake Heritage Foundation are sponsoring an Adaptive Fishing Clinic, 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. May 13, Western Parking Lot, Leaser Lake, 8568 Follweiler Court, Lynn Township.

The event is free for persons with disabilities.

Good Shepherd recreational therapists and representatives from Leaser Lake Heritage Foundation will introduce and review basic fishing techniques to improve functional skills, such as casting and reeling. They also will demonstrate the use of special equipment, such as adaptive fishing rod holders, casting aids and knot-tying devices.

Participants are asked to bring a fishing pole. A limited amount of adaptive fishing equipment will be available. Pennsylvania Fishing License requirements have been waived for the event. Bait will be provided.

Leaser Lake provides an accessible outdoor recreational area, including a fishing dock, kayak launch, picnic area, paved pathways and a shoreline boat launch.
